In 1984 Cathy Carstens was seriously injured in a head-on car accident that changed the course of her life.

The accident ended a promising athletics career, and Cathy took up cycling to assist her recovery. By 1990 she had won the prestigious Cape Argus Pick n Play Cycle Tour five times.

In 1991, Cathy gave it all up to focus on starting a family and building a successful career. In 2002 she made a comeback to cycling.

Now the physiotherapist, mother of two teenagers and consciousness coach can add World Road Cycling Champion 2009 to her inspirational list of achievements.

World Champion cyclist, South African Cathy Carstens is inviting you to join her for a bike ride  in your capital city in May 2010.

Cathy began cycling in 1984 when a car accident ended a promising athletics career. By 1990, she had won the prestigious Cape Argus Pick n Play Cycle Tour five years running.

In 1991, frustrated by the lack of international opportunity for women’s cycling due to apartheid in South Africa, Cathy gave it all up to focus on starting a family and building a successful career.

Twelve years later, she made a comeback to cycling, winning many national events;

culminating in her recent gold medal performance at the World Cup in Austria.

As an added bonus all those who attend “Mind Set of a World Champion” will have the honour of hearing from the amazing Petrus Carstens.

As minister of a large Dutch Reformed Congregation, Petrus Carstens met many people with wonderful visions for making a difference, but soon realised that without finances people are limited in accomplishing their goals.

In 2004 Petrus started investing, and within two years he built up an asset base exceeding $2.4 million and doubled that the following year. He now owns 10 companies and heads up Ample Wealth, a global private investor network. Petrus will share his wisdom with a focus on applying wining mindset to Business and wealth Creation. And yes, as the photos shows, Petrus who is the husband of our World Champion, Cathy Carstens, has been very successful on the bike as well.
